Four Arrested for Alleged Gambling Activity in Hogalberia ; Others Flee Scene

Four individuals have been apprehended by the police in connection with an alleged gambling operation in Hogalberia, Nadia. Sub-Inspector Rupesh Biswas of Hogalberia Police Station filed a complaint naming the arrested persons as Safiul Kha (44), Sanjit Mondal (24), Babu Shah (40), and Uttam Sarkar (50), along with others.According to the complaint, on April 13, 2024, acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid at a vacant vegetable shop in Sundalpur Sabji Bazar, under the jurisdiction of Hogalberia Police Station. The raid led to the arrest of the aforementioned individuals, who were allegedly engaged in gambling activities involving monetary exchange. Items seized during the raid include Rs. 6700 in cash, identified as board money, and two sets of playing cards. The police conducted the seizure following proper procedure and documentation.
