Illegal Electricity Usage Unearthed in Kaliganj: WBSEDCL Takes Action

An alarming case of illegal electricity consumption has surfaced in Pandab Para, PS Kaliganj, as reported by Sri Uttam Kundu, Assistant Engineer and Station Manager of Plassey CCC, WBSEDCL. On March 20, 2024, at approximately 12:45 hours, Kundu and his team, during routine inspection, discovered unauthorized electricity usage for irrigation purposes at the premises of Hapijul Sk (40 years old), son of Yachhaddin Sk.

It was found that Hapijul Sk had been directly tapping electricity from the nearest LTOH line of WBSEDCL without obtaining any requisite permissions from the competent authority. Despite interrogation, Sk failed to provide satisfactory explanations or valid documents justifying his illicit usage of electricity.

This revelation has prompted swift action from WBSEDCL authorities, signaling their resolve to tackle electricity theft and ensure compliance with regulations. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, with authorities determined to curb such unlawful practices that pose risks to both public safety and utility infrastructure.
