Major Drug Bust by Kotwali Police: 8 Arrested in Phensedyl Smuggling Operation

Kotwali Police, led by Complainant SI Durga Sankar Mondal, apprehended eight individuals in connection with a significant drug smuggling operation. The incident, which occurred on May 3rd, 2024, at 22:15 hrs., unfolded following actionable intelligence received by the police.Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the Kotwali Police, accompanied by a Special Operations Group (SOG) team, intercepted a truck registered under UP82AT2502. Upon inspection, authorities discovered 34 large nylon sacks concealed within the vehicle, containing a staggering 10,000 bottles of Phensedyl cough linctus.Following the procedures outlined in the NDPS Act, law enforcement officials seized the illicit substance and detained the accused individuals. Despite demands, the suspects failed to furnish any legitimate documentation to account for the seized contraband.Upon interrogation, the apprehended individuals confessed to their involvement in the smuggling operation. They revealed that they had orchestrated the transportation of the narcotics, intending to funnel the illegal substances across the border into Bangladesh through the International Border Fence, particularly towards the Krishnaganj area.
