On the evening of March 26, 2024, tragedy struck in Krishnagar Chhutorpara Nirasi as Jayanta Singha Roy, a 73-year-old resident, fell victim to a reckless motorcycle collision. Mr. Roy was returning home when a speeding Bullet Motorcycle, registered under WB-52-BM-3203, collided with him near the Sri Sri Sankat Mochon Mandir.
The incident occurred around 6:40 PM, as reported by Ujjal Kumar Singha Roy, Mr. Roy’s brother. The motorcycle, traveling from Krishnagar, crashed into Mr. Roy from behind, resulting in injuries. Prompt action by local bystanders saw Mr. Roy rushed to Saktinagar District Hospital, from where he was further transferred to Kolkata Mukunda Pursthita Medical Super Specialty Hospital for advanced treatment.
The collision is believed to have been caused by rash and negligent driving on the part of the motorcycle rider.
